My name is Ben Gibson, I am a Brisbane / Meanjin-based recording, mixing and live sound engineer with a background in electronic music production.

I work out of Gasworks Recording Studio in Newstead, an incredible space that allows me access to some of the highest quality equipment and instruments in the world.

I have a huge love for experimentation and experience across a broad spectrum of genres. Let find the magic in your project and help you bring it to life.

Very excited to add two beautiful items to my ever growing collection of guitar related gear. This beautiful 4x12 was built for me by @dylanblacktone down in Melbourne. I’ve been wanting a cab with natural wood grain for ages and this thing checks all the boxes. Loaded with @eminence_speaker Swamp Thangs and Texas Heats, it has a power handling of 600 watts, so will take anything you can throw at it. Sitting atop it is a Sunn Model T loaned to me by my dear friend @taidgheshepherd from his days playing in a doom band. While this isn’t the super sought after 70’s version, it still rips and I can’t wait to use it live. Proof is in the last slide where I play some new @slowcutband riffs at obscene volume levels. MATERIAL - Connor D’netto x Yvette Ofa Agapow So happy to share that this incredible work is finally out in the world. I spent a day recording with Connor and Yvette at Gasworks, tracking vibraphone and a found percussion “drum kit,” then worked back and forth with Connor getting these mixed. It was an honour to work with these insanely talented musicians and I’m incredibly proud of the work I was able to do to help get this recorded and released! Also stoked to have it mastered and released by Lawrence at @room40shoots, where I did my first studio internship many years ago! Hi it’s me. I’ve set myself the ridiculous goal of finishing an EP once a month for the entirety of 2022. I might stick to it, I might not, some might be very, very weird, some might just be straight up bad. This is basically an attempt to teach myself how to finish writing songs and actually do something with this hobby/career/life I sink all my time and money into. Anyway, first up are four songs I wrote in December/January mostly while in isolation. Inspired by artists like 1tbsp, Horatio Luna, Chaos in the CBD and First Beige, it’s a Lofi House EP with a bit of disco and jazz thrown in (ie. I used a lot of bongo samples and learned some jazz chords). Enjoy it or don’t, it’s in the world now with more to follow…. Maybe. Head to @corduroyboimusic to check it out if you want.
